This past weekend my boyfriend Lundan and I went to the Museum of Fine Arts Houston to see The Glamour and Romance of Oscar de la Renta. It was an absolutely beautiful exhibition to say the least, I never wanted the rooms to end! From elegant daywear to luxurious evening gowns, this exhibition transports you inside the mind, and the muses of de la Renta’s collections.
Oscar de la Renta (1932-2014) was a Dominican/American Fashion designer known (and still known) for his timeless fashions, he launched his career in Spain by sketching for lead fashion houses, which eventually led to an apprenticeship with Cristóbal Balenciaga. He later join Lanvin as a couture assistant in Paris, Then from there de la Renta’s career kept blossoming. He went on to have an award-winning career, which spanned more than five decades and two continents, dressing fashion icons, dignitaries and celebrities (some which are featured in the exhibition: Beyonce, Amal Clooney, Laura Bush, Etc.).
Oscar de la Renta captured a Woman’s elegance for any occasion through his designs, and for this his designs will forever be timeless.
